What Is A Brow Lift?

The goal of a brow lift is to achieve a more youthful and attractive appearance by lifting the eyebrows, it also reduces deep horizontal creases across the forehead and bridge of the nose, as well as frown lines between the eyebrows.

Common Techniques for the Brow Lift Procedure

There are two techniques used for performing a brow lift. Which technique is chosen for you will depend on the thickness, texture, and elasticity of your skin, your facial bone structure, the overall appearance of your eyebrows and eyelids, and the position of your brows.

The Classic Lift 

The classic brow lift requires a long incision that runs across the top of the head, at the hairline, and down to the ears. However, for a woman who has a high forehead, a coronal incision may be used. The coronal incision is made behind the hairline.

The Endoscopic Lift 

The endoscopic brow lift requires 3-5 small incisions made across the forehead at the hairline. These shorter incisions mean less recovery time and less scarring than a traditional brow lift.

Brow Lift Surgery Details

A brow lift usually takes 1-2 hours and is performed under either general anesthesia or intravenous sedation. Dr. Parakh will complete your procedure in a hospital, an office-based surgical suite, or an ambulatory center.

Depending on the surgical technique chosen, one long incision or a series of small incisions will be made. Tissue and muscle underneath the skin are repositioned as necessary.

At the end of the procedure, Dr. Parakh will close the incision(s) with sutures, screws, adhesives, or surgical tape. A drain may be applied to collect excess blood and fluid. You will then be moved to a recovery area for observation.

What to Expect After Surgery

Although a brow lift is typically an outpatient procedure, an overnight stay may be necessary for some patients. Following your brow lift in New Jersey, swelling may be pronounced for the first day or two after surgery, and most swelling goes away within two weeks.

To prevent postoperative bleeding, we recommend avoiding bending and heavy lifting for a few days. It can take up to three to six months for swelling to fully subside and for your scars to fade.

Depending on your pre-surgical appearance and goals, the results of your brow lift — which can be seen immediately — can be either subtle or dramatic. Your eyes will appear more open, and any creases across your forehead, bridge of your nose, and between your eyes will be much less noticeable.
