What is Breast Lift with Augmentation?

For women experiencing both breast ptosis and a loss of breast volume after aging, pregnancy, or weight fluctuations, only a combination procedure can bring the dramatic, long-lasting changes desired. A breast lift with augmentation not only combats sagging skin and downward-facing nipples, but it can also restore a rounded, feminine shape to the breasts, expanding clothing options while boosting self-confidence.

What Can Breast Lift with Augmentation Accomplish?

  • Restores the breasts to a more youthful position on chest
  • Reduces enlarged areolas
  • Augments breast volume
  • Creates a more feminine physique
  • Boosts self-confidence
  • Expands wardrobe options

Who is an Appropriate Candidate?

Patients considering a breast lift with augmentation in New Jersey will undergo a private consultation with Dr. Parakh to ensure they are suitable candidates.

Eligibility may be assessed based on the following factors:

  • The patient desires breasts that sit higher on the chest wall
  • The breasts are smaller than desired size
  • The areolas are enlarged, or the nipples point downward
  • There is an excess of sagging breast skin
  • The patient is a mentally and physically healthy non-smoker in possession of realistic expectations for their results
  • The patient has waited at least 6 months after breastfeeding

What Are the Different Incision Options?

Incision placement is based on the degree of breast ptosis, the size and type of implants chosen, and the patient’s preferences for postoperative scarring. Dr. Parakh will meet with you for a private consultation to discuss your options in detail, presenting you with the advantages and disadvantages of each choice. The incision patterns include the periareolar incision, vertical (lollipop) incision, and inframammary (anchor) incision. Multiple incisions may be required to achieve the best possible aesthetic outcome.

The Procedure

Combination mastopexy and augmentation surgery with implants is performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. During surgery, a pocket (space) is created either under or over the pec muscle, as dictated by the patient’s customized treatment plan for placement of breast implants. Implant choices include saline, or silicone.

The device is inserted into the pocket, and then the surrounding breast tissue and skin is trimmed and lifted to provide a youthful, balanced breast appearance. If the areolas appear too large, they can be resized at this time, and the nipples are elevated to a more appealing location.

Recovering From Breast Lift Surgery with Augmentation

Each patient will receive a detailed aftercare plan from Dr. Parakh, along with prescriptions for pain medications and antibiotics. A responsible adult, friend, or family member will be required to drive the patient home from surgery and assist them for the first 24-48 hours. Gentle walks are encouraged at first, as these can help boost circulation, prevent clotting, and elevate the patient’s mood.

Mild swelling, bruising, and tenderness are all to be expected, but these side effects peak in the first few days and then begin to lessen. The patient may be fitted with a compression garment to help minimize swelling and preserve the newly sculpted breast contours. Most patients  will return to work after 1- 2 weeks and can resume light exercise at this time with no heavy lifting for 4-6 weeks.

When Will I See My Results?

For all patients, a positive change in the breast appearance will be noted right away. However breasts will also be swollen at this time and may need up to 12 weeks for final results to become evident, as this is the amount of time it takes for the implants to settle into a more natural-looking location.

Dr. Parakh will follow up with each patient to ensure their recovery is progressing smoothly and that they are satisfied with their outcome.

FAQ

What are the risks?

Can a breast lift with implants be combined with other procedures?

What are the risks?

There are risks inherent with every surgical procedure, although these are decreased by choosing an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon, such as Dr. Parakh. Risks may include poor reactions to anesthesia, asymmetry, changes in nipple sensation, seroma, poor wound healing, scarring, and others. Risks of implant placement may include rupture or leakage, rippling, capsular contracture, BIA-ALCL (with textured implants), and BII (Breast Implant Illness).

Can a breast lift with implants be combined with other procedures?

Yes. Women frequently choose to undergo mastopexy and breast augmentation as components of a mommy makeover, which typically also includes abdominoplasty, liposuction, and labiaplasty. A combination mommy makeover can help clients save both time and money.
