“Very happy with how my breast aug turned out. Dr. Parakh and staff are very personable and friendly. I had no issues after surgery and amazingly small and thin scars. I went under the breast fold. I am 5’6″, 145 lbs. with an athletic build. I went with round silicone 415cc HP implants under the muscle. I do not think the implant is too large or fake looking for my frame. Very happy with how perfect and symmetrical they came out.”

About Breast Augmentation: What to Expect During Your Consultation

Before your breast augmentation, you’ll have a consultation with Dr. Parakh at her Englewood, NJ office. During this consultation, you will be able to discuss the look you’re going for and what work will need to be done to achieve that look. Please ask any questions you may have during this appointment. Dr. Parakh is known for spending exponentially more time with patients than many other surgeons. She offers empathetic and compassionate listening in order to determine the ideal individualized plan for your desired outcome. Her goal is to help you feel comfortable with her.

Be honest about your medical history and answer all questions correctly. Dr. Parakh wants the best for you, including safe and successful pre-operative, operative, and post-operative experiences. She will take you step-by-step through the procedure in an easily understood way so that you’ll feel knowledgeable about the surgery. Dr. Parakh will take the extra time to thoroughly educate you, as she knows the more educated a patient is, the more secure they are with their decisions.

Together, you and Dr. Parakh will decide on the right breast size for your build and size. She will be able to help you make the choice that will best compliment your appearance without overdoing it. If you choose to proceed with the breast augmentation, any tests that need to be run will be taken. A date for surgery will be set up and you will be given a complete list of instructions that need to be carefully followed before you have your surgery.

Procedure Day: The Breast Augmentation Surgery

Arrive for your breast augmentation surgery early. Please bring loose-fitting clothing and a top that buttons down the front to wear after your procedure for easy dressing. Dr. Parakh and her nursing staff will inform you about when to come and how to prepare for the surgery.

You will receive general anesthetic for your breast augmentation in New Jersey. This is an outpatient procedure, which means you’ll be able to go home after spending an hour or two in the recovery room after surgery. Please be sure to have someone with you for the procedure and after the augmentation to help you get home safely and pick up any prescriptions you may need.

Dr. Parakh uses the Keller Funnel, a technique in which the breast implant can be compressed through a smaller incision and inserted with improved precision. The Keller Funnel also utilizes a “no-touch” method that keeps the implant sterile. This lowers the risk of infection and shortens surgical time.

Dr. Parakh also often incorporates liposuction when performing breast augmentation.

Before you know it, your breast augmentation and the healing process will be completed.

Recovery After Breast Augmentation

Following your breast augmentation in New Jersey, Dr. Parakh will give you a list of do’s and don’ts for the immediate time after your augmentation. She will also tell you what to look for after surgery to ensure that you heal properly. Most breast augmentation patients are able to return to work in 3-5 days and can get back to regular activities in 4-5 days (except for exercise, which will need to be postponed for two weeks).

We recommend no heavy lifting for six weeks, and you’ll need to wear a sports bra for six weeks. Be aware that at first, your breast implants will sit quite high. They will eventually settle over the course of a few weeks to months. You will have your first post-op follow-up in one week so that Dr. Parakh can check on the progress of how you’re healing. You will return for checkups at six weeks and six months.

Will I have visible scars after breast augmentation?

Who Makes the Best Breast Augmentation Candidate?

When will I see the final results of my breast augmentation?

It may take a few months for swelling to subside and for the implants to settle into their final position.

What Risks are Involved in Breast Augmentation?

Risks involved with breast augmentation include breast implant illness and rupture contracture. To prevent this, Dr. Parakh encourages regular follow-ups. Those with implants should inform their mammogram provider that they have breast implants. “Gummy bear” implants will also help prevent implant leaking.Dr. Parakh does everything in her power to minimize any complications. If any do arise, she will be with you every step of the way to guide you through the healing process.

Will I have visible scars after breast augmentation?

Scarring is typically minimal and can often be well-hidden in the breast crease or around the areola, depending on the incision location.

Who Makes the Best Breast Augmentation Candidate?

Those who are good patients for breast augmentation are generally healthy, at a stable weight that they are happy with, and in good physical shape. If you plan on losing a significant amount of weight, you may want to postpone the surgery until you’ve reached your weight loss goals, as your existing breasts are the foundation on which improvement is made — and we would certainly want a stable foundation. If you intend on having another child, you may want to consider waiting until after the next baby is born and you have completed breastfeeding before you have your augmentation surgery done.Dr. Parakh is located in Englewood, NJ and proudly serves the surrounding New Jersey area and beyond.
