Meet the Doctor

Dr. Shwetambara Parakh, MD, FACS, was born and raised in India. There she was educated under the guidance of her physician parents, who taught her by example that success is possible if you work hard and dedicate yourself. Every satisfied patient that left their doors was a standing example of their devotion to their work.

With these ideas in mind, Dr. Parakh went to medical school at M.S. Ramaiah Medical College, which is among the top five private medical schools in India. After graduating at the top of her class (1st division), in her constant quest for improvement, Dr. Parakh traveled to the United States to pursue further training in the field of her passion: surgery. While undergoing general surgical training at New York Presbyterian Queens Hospital, she discovered a growing interest in plastic surgery.

Areas of Specialty

Dr. Parakh’s interests lie in cosmetic surgery of the face, breasts, and body. Her repertoire of procedures includes facial rejuvenation with face, neck and eye lifting, breast augmentation/lift, scarless and traditional breast reduction, gynecomastia, liposuction, tummy tuck, mommy makeover, and body contouring.

Exceptional Training in Techniques of All Kinds

Medicine is as much an art as a science, and no specialty reinforces this more than plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Parakh was accepted at the highly competitive plastic surgery training at the combined program of Cornell and Columbia Universities at New York Presbyterian Hospital.

She also trained at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Hospital for Special Surgery. This top-notch training taught her the classical tried and tested — as well as newest and most advanced — techniques in aesthetic surgery.

After her training, Dr. Parakh joined Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. She worked there for a few years at a Level 1 Trauma center, performing a broad spectrum of aesthetic and reconstructive surgeries. She also served as Assistant Professor at Tufts Medical school and enjoyed teaching medical students and residents the art of plastic surgery.

While Dr. Parakh enjoyed working in Western Massachusetts, her heart was always back in the vibrant New York Metro area. She was interested in working within a private practice setting where she could create a caring environment for her patients’ individual needs and goals. This quest finally resulted in the creation of Parakh Plastic Surgery, where she provides the highest level of personalized care and the finest aesthetic results. Her niche, boutique practice is exceedingly modern and state-of-the-art. The same attention to detail that Dr. Parakh employs during surgery was invested into designing the office space. Dr. Parakh has established herself as a leading authority in the realm of plastic surgery. Individual treatment plans are at the core of her practice, and that, coupled with her particular areas of expertise, cultivate an overall patient-oriented experience.
